Our IP Tech experts from the Baker McKenzie Tokyo office, Daisuke Tatsuno and Yuki Kondo, contributed an article to The Legal Industry Reviews on Data Protection in Japan entitled “Digital Agency received PPC’s enforcement action over My Number problems.” The My Number (equivalent to the Social Security Number in the US) has been treated poorly by the Digital Agency and the PPC (the Personal Information Protection Commission) is actively enforcing privacy laws against both the private and public sector.
