About

Our team of antitrust and competition law experts in Tokyo provide a full range of services to foreign and Japanese clients. We frequently assist with administrative, civil and criminal proceedings, as well as compliance issues relating to competition laws in Japan.

We have a core team of 10 Japanese lawyers, one foreign lawyer and one paralegal, all of whom are experienced in handling international competition cases and compliance programs. Working together with Baker McKenzie’s global network of competition experts comprising over 400 lawyers in 46 jurisdictions around the world, our unique “one-stop shop” provides clients with cutting-edge advice in a rapidly changing environment. We quickly assemble teams to strategically address multijurisdictional cases and continue to develop our lawyers’ skill, knowledge and communication through regional and global meetings and training opportunities.

The Tokyo team was formed in 2008. Key veteran members include Akira Inoue, Junya Ae and Masatsugu Suzuki. The later addition of Tetsuro Sato has bolstered the team’s market presence.

As an integral part of one of the largest global law firm networks, we provide clients with simultaneous local and cross-border advice to go above and beyond their business needs. We have represented banks, insurance companies, securities companies, leasing companies, electric power plants, airlines, air freight forwarders, shipbuilders and ship carriers, construction companies, food and beverage companies and restaurants, trading houses and other service-related companies, trade associations, manufacturers and various automobile, chemical and electronics companies.
