As counsel to trading companies, we regularly advise on investments in a range of fields beyond energy, mining or infrastructure, including food processing, agribusiness, financial services, chemicals, manufacturing, automobiles, pharmaceuticals and other market sectors.

Representative Experience

  • Acted for a Japanese consortium to acquire an interest in a uranium company with assets in Kazakhstan, the US, Australia, South Africa and Canada.
  • Acted for Japanese investors on the acquisition of Port Kembla, a copper smelter in New South Wales, Australia, and thereafter advised them on various matters in relation to their interests.
  • Advised a Japanese company on its acquisition of an interest in a 100 MW IPP thermal power project in the Philippines.
  • Represented a Japanese trading company in various acquisitions in Turkey, India, Kazakhstan, the Philippines and other locations.
  • Represented a Japanese company in its acquisition of 100 percent of an infrastructure company in Brazil.
  • Acted for a European EPC contractor on the acquisition of and drafting of the EPC contracts for a 20 MW project in central Japan and a 800kw solar project in Kyushu.
