About

Our Banking & Finance practice group meets a wide range of needs, challenges and opportunities faced by banks, trust banks, investment banks, securities companies and other financial institutions worldwide. As part of Baker McKenzie’s network of 76 offices in 46 countries, our global perspective enables us to execute the most complex financial transactions both locally and across borders.

We assist clients on a wide range of transactional and regulatory matters in Japan and abroad, including project finance, Private Finance Initiatives (PFIs)/Public Private Partnerships (PPPs), acquisition finance, real estate finance, securitization and structured finance, derivatives and financial products, trade and export finance with or without export credit agencies (ECAs), asset and equipment finance and asset management. We also regularly advise on issues affecting the financial services industry generally, including fintech and domestic and cross-border M&A transactions involving financial institutions. Our team members are active in industry groups and committees, including those organized by the Japanese government, ISDA and IETA.
